Daily Prayer

In keeping with the teaching of Jesus
and, indeed, the whole of the Bible,
the 1979 Book of Common Prayer encourages us to pray daily
and offers us a rich program of daily prayer
arranged for use in the morning, at noon, in the evening, and before retiring.

We encourage the development of a habit of daily prayer
and we find that the forms of prayer in the Book of Common Prayer,
with their appointed readings of psalms and scripture lessons,
provide us with an excellent program for regular daily prayer.
Try to develop this habit yourself
as a way of deepening your awareness of God's Spirit in your life.
WARNING!  This practice may become habit forming (and we hope it will)!

There are several wonderful web sites for daily prayer
that allow you to follow prayers for the day right at your computer,
no matter where you are.
We commend these sites to you
and encourage you to try each of them
and discipline yourself to a habit of daily prayer.

The Prayer Book Daily Office for each day of the year.

Another site that has the Daily Office.
Although not from the Book of Common Prayer,
it is well within the Anglican tradition
and is shorter than the form found on the other Daily Office link.
Plus, you can sign up to have the Office
for the day emailed to you every day at noon.
